Weak localization coexisting with a magnetic field in a normal-metal-superconductor microbridge.

چکیده
A random-matrix theory is presented which shows that breaking time-reversal symmetry by itself does not suppress the weak-localization correction to the conductance of a disordered metal wire attached to a superconductor. Suppression of weak localization requires applying a magnetic field as well as raising the voltage, to break both time-reversal symmetry and electron-hole degeneracy. A magnetic-field dependent contact resistance obscured this anomaly in previous numerical simulations. PACS numbers: 74.80.Fp, 73.50.Fq, 73.50.Jt Typeset using REVTEX

Insensitivity to time-reversal symmetry breaking of universal conductance fluctuations with Andreev reflection.
Numerical simulations of conduction through a disordered microbridge between a normal metal and a superconductor have revealed an anomalous insensitivity of the conductance fluctuations to a magnetic field. A theory for the anomaly is presented: Both an exact analytical calculation (using randommatrix theory) and a qualitative symmetry argument (involving the exchange of time-reversal for refle...
متن کاملبررسی پذیرفتاری مغناطیسی AC در ابررساناهای حجمی (Bi-Pb)2223
The temperature dependence of ac susceptibility of (Bi-Pb)2223 polycrystalline samples was measured as a function of frequency and ac field amplitude. Analysis of the temperature dependence of the AC susceptibility near the transition temperature (Tc) has been done employing Bean’s critical state model. The observed variation of intergranular critical current densities (Jc) with temperature i...
متن کاملSpin screening of magnetic moments in superconductors
– We consider ferromagnetic particles embedded into a superconductor and study the screening of their magnetic moments by the spins of the Cooper pairs in the superconductor. It is shown that a magnetic moment opposite to the one of the ferromagnetic particle is induced in the superconductor. In the case of a small itinerant ferromagnet grain and low temperatures the full screening of the magne...
متن کاملLocal density of states in a dirty normal metal connected to a superconductor.
A superconductor in contact with a normal metal not only induces superconducting correlations, known as the proximity effect, but also modifies the density of states at some distance from the interface. These modifications can be resolved experimentally in microstructured systems. We therefore study the local density of states N(E ,x) of a superconductor–normal-metal heterostructure. We find a ...
متن کاملOverscreening Diamagnetism in Cylindrical Superconductor-normal Metal-heterostructures
We study the linear diamagnetic response of a superconducting cylinder coated by a normal-metal layer due to the proximity effect using the clean limit quasiclassical Eilenberger equations. We compare the results for the susceptibility with those for a planar geometry. Interestingly, for R ∼ d the cylinder exhibits a stronger overscreening of the magnetic field, i.e., at the interface to the su...
